Expandable single pallet expeditionary kitchen

The Expandable Single Pallet Expeditionary Kitchen (E-SPEK) is a compact, self-sufficient, and quickly deployable field kitchen and sanitation center, complete with an integrated 463L cargo pallet. It serves as a replacement for the TEMPER tent-based SPEK, offering sling-load capability and the ability to prepare and serve both UGR-H&S and UGR-A meals for as many as 350 individuals per meal cycle. Equipped with its own generator, the E-SPEK delivers high-quality, fresh meals in a controlled setting, utilizing closed combustion JP-8 fuel-fired appliances that promote thermal comfort, energy efficiency, and safety. In alignment with the Air Force's Agile Combat Employment (ACE) doctrine, the system is housed within an expandable shelter that can increase in size by a ratio of 3:1. The kitchen's appliance suite includes a convection oven, griddle, 30-gallon skillet, a tilting heated serving line, a tilting field sanitation unit, and a handwashing sink accompanied by a portable water heater. The E-SPEK can be operational and ready for meal preparation within 30 minutes of arrival, requiring only three personnel for setup. For larger operations, multiple E-SPEK units can be combined to enhance the support capacity for deployable units.
