The Assault Kitchen (AK) is a vehicle deployed food service system with heat-on-the-move capabilities to serve hot tray ration meals in remote areas. Deployed from a M1101 or M1102 Light Tactical Trailer (LTT), pulled by a M1097 or M1152 or HMMWV. Uses a Tray Ration Heater (TRH) to heat rations for food service in a short amount of time. The AK can provide heat on-the-move Unitized Group Rations (UGR) heat-and-serve hot meal service for 250 meals at a feeding site and up to 500 meals in a day. Can provide static limited A-Ration capability for 150 meals at a static feeding site. The TRH includes thermostatic control and safety features for added protection against inadvertent start-up, low water excessive tilt, or electrical short.
