The Improved Tray Ration Heater (TRH-I) offers a more versatile, safe and agile heat-on-the-move capability for use with both HMMWV-LTT and JLTV-T companion trailers. The new lightweight TRH-I features the next-generation FlexFire™ Multi-Fuel Burner as its primary heat source. This product improvement to the existing Tray Ration Heater System (TRHS) fielded in 1995 allows for similar operation and serves 250 UGR-H&S tray packs per meal cycle as well as UGR-A rations with a cooking Accessory Set. The TRH-I operates at half the power of the legacy AK system and value-added enhancements enable off-grid remote operation with an on-board battery, eliminating the need for vehicle or generator support. The TRH-I consists of a lightweight thermoplastic housing, a stainless-steel water tank, and the DC powered upgrade to the DoD’s Airtronic Burner. The TRH-I’s intelligent control includes self-diagnostics for improved troubleshooting and communicates with a built-in oxygen sensor which automatically self-tunes the TRH-I for CO safety mitigation and improved energy efficiency.
