Improved Tray Ration Heater
The Improved Tray Ration Heater (TRH-I) is a next-generation upgrade to the original Joint Service Tray Ration Heater (TRH / NSN: 7360-01-514-1420). Built for modular deployment, the TRH-I delivers hot, safe, and ready-to-serve meals in the most mobile and demanding environments. The appliance can be mounted on any tactical vehicle platform—including HMMWV, MTVR, JLTV, and Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV)—and is fully adaptable to existing DoD Containerized Kitchens and Mobile Kitchen Trailers.
The TRH-I integrates a stainless steel water tank within a lightweight, rugged thermoplastic housing, and is heated by the FlexFire™ Multi-Fuel Burner—a high-efficiency, variable firing-rate, DC-powered upgrade to the DoD’s proven Airtronic Burner (NSN: 7310-01-442-8340). An intelligent control system with integrated oxygen (O2) sensors provides real-time feedback to optimize combustion performance, enhance fuel efficiency, and ensure safe carbon monoxide (CO) emissions under all operating conditions.
Capable of heating up to 250 UGR-H&S tray packs per meal cycle, the TRH-I also supports UGR-A ration preparation with an optional Accessory Set, enabling a continuous ration cycle for sustained operations. The system operates at half the power draw of the legacy TRH, allowing for remote, battery-powered use—eliminating dependency on vehicles or generators and supporting flexible deployment in distributed or low-signature environments.
