Army Assault Kitchen (AK)

heat on the move

Babington’s Heat-on-the-Move solutions prepare hot meals while in transit for front line feeding. Purpose-built for today’s agile, expeditionary forces, these lightweight, energy-efficient systems integrate into tactical vehicles or can be dismounted for standalone operation—enabling safe, on-demand heating of Unitized Group Rations (UGR H&S) and fresh rations anytime, anywhere.

Developed in direct response to Warfighter and First Responder needs, both legacy and next-generation Tray Ration Heaters are transforming field logistics. They are designed to minimize setup time, reduce fuel consumption, and eliminate reliance on fixed infrastructure. Whether mounted on legacy HMMWVs—or next-generation JLTVs and ISVs—the TRH systems deliver hot, nutritious meals at the point of need—no matter how fast or far the mission moves.

Marine Corps Tray Ration Heater (TRH)

The centerpiece of the Army’s Assault Kitchen (AK) and Marine Corps’ Tray Ration Heating System (TRHS) is the Babington Tray Ration Heater (TRH)—a compact, fuel-efficient field appliance engineered to heat Unitized Group Ration-Heat & Serve (UGR-H&S) tray packs, as well as fresh rations, in expeditionary or mobile environments. The primary heat source for the TRH is the Babington multi-fuel burner, providing safe, smokeless operation using JP-8, diesel, or other distillate fuels in compliance with the DoD’s Single Fuel Forward policy.
